An Intense Opening: Jupiter–Chiron Square Continues

In January 2026, we continue the ongoing Jupiter–Chiron square journey, as the personal planets (Venus, Sun, Mars, and Mercury) move through Capricorn and oppose Jupiter during the first half of the month, strongly activating Chiron. This is an intense stretch, as these oppositions and squares bring our awareness directly to places of vulnerability and healing before we can activate growth after February.

From 1/17 through 1/23, the stellium shifts into Aquarius one planet at a time, culminating in a five-planet stellium with Pluto in Aquarius. This transition brings noticeable relief, especially as support arrives through Uranus in Taurus and Venus in Aquarius in mutual receptivity. The energy begins to feel less abrasive and more spacious, innovative, and responsive amid lingering turbulence.

Readdressing Past Wounds

The Jupiter–Chiron journey is especially important right now. While Saturn and Neptune complete the final stretch in Pisces until the end of January, both planets are looking toward Jupiter as the next critical step toward their eventual crossover into Aries, where inspired action begins. Jupiter’s transit through Cancer until 6/30/2026 means it will continue to square Chiron in Aries, inviting us to keep tending to past wounds that may be physical, emotional, mental, developmental, or spiritual—depending on where Chiron sits in your natal chart and how it interacts with your natal planets.

As the personal planets form a stellium in Capricorn early in the month and then again in Aquarius by the end of January, we experience this healing process in two distinct phases. First comes the discomfort of reopening and addressing the wounds; later comes the relief of tending to them with care. It’s much like cleaning a wound: the antiseptic stings as it washes away debris, but that sting makes possible the comfort of fresh ointment and new bandages. Because so many planets are concentrated in one area, both the initial discomfort and the eventual relief are amplified.

Finding Stability: Working with 22° Libra

As I mentioned in the December forecast, the only way out is through. During the first half of the month, while the stellium moves through Capricorn, we’re offered a specific point of support to help stabilize the intensity of the Jupiter–Chiron square: 22° of Libra in your personal chart. This point opposes transit Chiron at 22° Aries and helps form a Grand Cardinal Cross, providing a stabilizing counterbalance to the tension.

January encourage us to locate where 22° Libra falls in our charts and consciously set intentions to “turn up the volume” of that house. Think of it as finding the missing fourth leg of a table—once it’s in place, the surface becomes steady enough to do the work of healing. Unlike other energies arriving automatically through transits, 22° Libra asks for initiation and active participation. Stabilization here comes through your own agency, choice, and willingness to invite balance and support.

Convalescence and Deeper Healing

In the second half of the month, especially as Mars conjuncts Pluto in Aquarius on 1/27, Chiron’s wounds move into a phase of rest and convalescence. With fresh dressings in place, the Mars–Pluto conjunction signals that deeper transformation and healing can now unfold beneath the surface. This is a time to rest into the support you’ve created.

With Venus and Uranus in mutual receptivity, the overall tone becomes more hopeful, reciprocal, and peaceful—far more conducive to recovery and integration. Adding to this sense of renewal, Neptune enters Aries on 1/26, ending a 14-year transit in Pisces. This shift brings a fresh wave of inspiration and hope for forward momentum, which will continue to solidify after Saturn enters Aries on 2/13. By the Lunar New Year on 2/17, both Saturn and Neptune will have begun their Aries journeys, and we’ll explore the collective implications of that chart in the February forecast.

Closing Guidance for January 2026

For now, in January, focus on 22° Libra in your chart and do whatever you need to create a safe, supportive container while the universe tends to old wounds. Wishing you a safe, gentle, and peaceful start to 2026.
