First, what is the Spring Equinox chart? It is the ingress chart of Sun entering Aries at 0°00', also called the astrological New Year Chart. As Aries is ruled by Mars, it gives us our motivation for the year, where we would like to roll up our sleeves and get to work. It tells us where we expect to sow the seeds and reap for harvest.
For this chart, we look to Mars as the ruler of the Spring Equinox chart. And we look to the ascendant ruler to see the quality through which we would approach this new motivation.
With Mars in the 5th house Aquarius, we are looking to showcase our individuality and innate talents through the support of like-minded people, and for humanitarian/communal causes that have far-reaching, global, and generational implications. This is a time where we feel deeply motivated and compelled to apply our essence, spirit, and natural gifts toward a greater cause.
With North Node/Mercury/Chiron conjunct in Aries, we might have to encounter unpleasant information and be reminded of past wounds in the process, but we are embracing the healing. An example that I gave in the 2024 forecast, would be Lindsay Sterling applying her gifts in music and lending her social platform to marine biology research, like communicating with marine mammals through sound to better learn about global warming.
It is fascinating that the quality with which we would approach this urge and desire to use our talents for the greater good, appears to be on the gentle and reciprocating side (as opposed to the in-your-face-ness aggression of 2023). With Libra ascendant conjuncting South Node, we are willing to meet the other in the middle, and even step into other people’s shoes and approach our goals from a “we” mentality that seeks out the path of win-win.
Further, with Venus exalted in Pisces, and Mars following and supporting Venus from Aquarius, our Mars motivation is following the leadership of Venus, which is connected to the spirit of Agape love, or love that is connected to the universal consciousness. In other words, we are leading with diplomacy rather than aggression. For example, instead of social change through rioting and disruptions, this is social change through diplomacy and peaceful action, like the peace march with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
And as Venus is further modified by the energies of Saturn, we know that we are putting ideals to reality. Saturn, the gatekeeper between ether and the manifested, in Pisces demand that we translate lofty ideals into practical and quantifiable/verifiable goals that can be broken down into realizable steps.
The Venus-Saturn conjunction on 3/21, happening in the 7th house for the Pacific West coast timezone, confirms the theme of concretizing practical partnerships based on mutuality, in order to reach a common goal that is aligned to higher ideals. Another practical example: government or regulatory bodies partnering with non-profits in order to fulfill their civic duty and reach their goals in social aid and programs.
With Saturn we very well may need to burst a couple bubbles in exchange for organization and feasibility (trim the scope, reduce spending to fit the budget, etc.) But as it is exalted in the 7th with Venus being comfortable in the 7th, we’ll even out the sacrifices on all fronts to reach the win-win compromise, or at least a perceived win-win for the collective.
As I said in the 2024 forecast, it’s a partnership heavy year where even individuality will need to happen through partnership (if that makes sense). With the Moon in Leo opposite Pluto and trine Sun in the 2024 Spring Equinox chart, we want to base our desire for recognition in the world through integrating our personal needs with the needs of our community, and let our inner Joan-of-Arc shine (Pluto in Aquarius 4th, the inner-furnace burning for transformation). Use this crusading spirit for social change, and channel the force toward peacefully stewarding mutually beneficial intentions. There is a willingness here, with Sun in the 6th, to put in the hard work for the collective so that we achieve the greatest good for all.
In mundane terms, as Sun is in conjunction with Neptune in this collective “motivations” chart, it’s not a far reach to imagine that we continue to focus our efforts in building virtual realities and dream worlds that fulfill all of our intimate needs and desires. Investments in virtual reality and virtual machines and any fringe industry continues to expand and do well as chart ascendant Venus, who rules financial resources, is in mutual receptivity to Jupiter in the 8th house of investments.
From a personal perspective, we want to keep showcasing our personal talents that can at first be unexpected or even taboo and disruptive to the status-quo. But as we take practical, solid, and consistent steps (Saturn 5th, Sun 6th), the outcome will be well-received (Venus-Saturn) and potentially gain partners, investors, or at least behind-the-scenes supporters. Just remember that while Venus-Saturn can impose limits and provisos on personal relationships, they do super-well together when oriented towards love for the people, as they are both planets of advocacy for the people. So be sure to showcase your talents with the intention of supporting others.

These energies are valid through the astrological new year (until the next Sun ingress into Aries in 2025). We should begin to see its affects around 5/23/2024, when Venus conjuncts Jupiter, and we'll analyze that chart then.
